Dear Elizabeth
by Sarah Ruhl
Over nine months
- secured The Assembly Rooms Theatre as a venue on 3 separate occasions with my applications, most notably on the 3rd go when there were 50+ applications for approx. 20 slots
- ensured that our production team and cast includes first years and newcomers
- lead and motivated the team through 3 cancellations and online rehearsals as a first time director
- recast the show 3 times
- persevered through vigilant testing and constant uncertainty/rearragements
- sought to collaborate with other societies for innovative marketing e.g....
- (left) after our first cancellation in November, I orchestrated, filmed and edited a trailer for the show for the DST 'Lights in Lockdown' showcase, which I also helped to curate in its entirety
- collaborated with Durham Art Society by asking artists to create art inspired by the poems in the play to then use for publicity (illustrations above by Jasmine Cash)
- collaborated with Durham English Society to create online poetry readings and wrote for their literary magazine, 'From the Lighthouse'
